Re: seige weapions!!!!

I'm all for getting something together and bringing it to Ragnarok and what-not. I just know its been 2 years since I was at the when a ton of people promised at War Council to make, build, and test siege weapons and present the results.

So far? A few posts on the national boards about "almost finished" siege weapons, but nothing completed, no pictures, no anything.

Except for the small trebuchet that Militis brought to Defense of Eredhel... but Bishop has sadly reported to me that the trebuchet seems to have severe functionality issues now for some reason as it was broken down for transport.

I don't want to discourage anyone, it just seems like the practical problems of making a safe and functional siege weapon for Dagorhir has proven too daunting for even the most grizzled and knowledgeable Dagorhirim... so I also want someone to be aware of the daunting task that faces them if they really do want to travel down the siege weapon path.

But if anyone from Eryndor is willing to take on that challenge, good luck! Success would be sweet and bring much glory and honor to the individual as well as to Eryndor!

Seige weapons...

mmmm.... tasty....

My treb was built from the remains of a 'ballista' I once attempted to built... The demensions it was made from were jerry-rigged from the wood I had available, (hence why it was kinda shotty)...

Anywho.. It was still alot of fun to make. However, I don't think I'm gonna try to make a dag legal one anytime this season.

++++TANGENT++++++
As far as effectiveness, to get a treb that would be dag awesome would require a 3 ft firing arm, a 2 ft short counterweight arm, a 1.2 ft long pouch (2.4ft folded), and (the downer part) about 100 lbs of counterweight (which sucks cause you have to lug it around everywhere...)
++++Coming back from the tangent++++

Militis's Final thought:
If you have the time and money to build one, go for it. If not, don't worry bout it, it's not gonna revolutionalize the way the game is played.

Good luck.

PS.
I did once hear of someone using humans as the counterweight...
