This sometimes causes small movements that might creak, but for the most part they are usually fine for awhile. Just make sure you keep an eye on your weapon before each practice. Then again it could be something else or nothing at all. Hope this helped.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Fenris Kelevra)Tue, 03 Apr 2012 22:58:33 +0000 Re: Using colors on weaponshttps://beryndor.runboard.com/p311157,from=rss#post311157https://beryndor.runboard.com/p311157,from=rss#post311157We'll have to think up some exceptable reason then lol. Side note: in my first 2 swords I made I didn't have this issue, but in the next 3 I made I did. I am hearing a slight creaking sound when they are being swung. They seem to be holding up ok in testing, but it's still an issue I would like to avoid in the future. The only difference between the first 2 and the next 3 is the the creaking ones are a few inches shorter. Still duel fiberglass cores duct tape then athletic taped and blue camp foam blades. Any idea what might be causing this issue? If you need more info on construction you can find it in the "My first sword" thread. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Quinn Eagleeye)Tue, 03 Apr 2012 09:27:53 +0000 Re: Using colors on weaponshttps://beryndor.runboard.com/p311152,from=rss#post311152https://beryndor.runboard.com/p311152,from=rss#post311152Honestly, we have a bit more fantasy in our realm, so as long as you have a storyline reason for werid colors, and it doesn't do anything special besides be a werid color, then I see no reason why it shouldn't be allowed.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Toland)Sun, 01 Apr 2012 12:47:36 +0000 Re: Using colors on weaponshttps://beryndor.runboard.com/p311151,from=rss#post311151https://beryndor.runboard.com/p311151,from=rss#post311151Pink is one of those random colors that always seems to bring up issues with people. Whether its with Dag weapons, or in life in general. Personally for me, if I was doing weapons check at an event or practice, as long as it is not the highlighter/neon pink color, it would be fine at for being pink. I have seen a few weapons(mostly arrows) that had a pink cover on them, but they were more of the Pink Panther pink, than bright neon pink. It will all depend on the checker, but it more than likely would be ok with Eryndor. I have seen garb that is light pink, I think I have even been told that historical viking red is similar to pink. I wish I could give you a better answer, but when it comes to thing like appearance of a weapon it is up to the checkers/event runners.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Fenris Kelevra)Fri, 30 Mar 2012 00:52:02 +0000 Re: Using colors on weaponshttps://beryndor.runboard.com/p311146,from=rss#post311146https://beryndor.runboard.com/p311146,from=rss#post311146Oh I'm pretty sure this wouldn't be legal, bit worth asking anyway. My wife wants me to make her a sword just to play around with in the backyard with me. She really wants the blade to be this light pink color. While it wouldn't matter in home use, I was just currious if it would be a legal weapon in practices and events if she would ever want to take part, or would she need a different sword? Like I said I wouldn't think it was legal, but worth asking.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Quinn Eagleeye)Fri, 30 Mar 2012 00:05:15 +0000 Re: Using colors on weaponshttps://beryndor.runboard.com/p311145,from=rss#post311145https://beryndor.runboard.com/p311145,from=rss#post311145I wasn't planning on using tape on the blade, I was talking about the athletic tape used on the hilt and pommel. As far as the electrical tape, I was talking about the single strand that goes around the hilt or pommel to designate what kind of weapon it was. I didn't know that checkers are usually the ones that use it.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Quinn Eagleeye)Thu, 29 Mar 2012 23:59:43 +0000 Re: Using colors on weaponshttps://beryndor.runboard.com/p311144,from=rss#post311144https://beryndor.runboard.com/p311144,from=rss#post311144quote:TheManTheyCallJayne wrote: You can use any colors except for Yellow (reserved for projectiles) but anything you add must be cloth as striking surfaces require cloth covers (you can get away with grip tape but that doesn't hold up well long term). Do not use any kind of tape on swung striking surfaces. It encourages breaking down of foam as the different areas will flex different. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Atalan)Thu, 29 Mar 2012 20:17:41 +0000 Re: Using colors on weaponshttps://beryndor.runboard.com/p311140,from=rss#post311140https://beryndor.runboard.com/p311140,from=rss#post311140That is fine, as Jayne said weapons can be any color (except yellow or neon colors). Only javelins have a cover requirement and those must be yellow. Other than that you are fine. I have red weapons with blue covers and have made blue weapons with red covers. Also as for tape on the weapons, like Nada said, you can put whatever color of tape you want on, but I would shy away from using electrical tape just because it is what most people use for weapons check.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Fenris Kelevra)Tue, 27 Mar 2012 11:50:45 +0000 Re: Using colors on weaponshttps://beryndor.runboard.com/p311139,from=rss#post311139https://beryndor.runboard.com/p311139,from=rss#post311139That is fine, as Jayne said weapons can be any color (except yellow or neon colors). (Note it cant qualify as a Red 2 hander) nondisclosed_email@example.com (Quinn Eagleeye)Tue, 27 Mar 2012 10:34:38 +0000 Re: Using colors on weaponshttps://beryndor.runboard.com/p311136,from=rss#post311136https://beryndor.runboard.com/p311136,from=rss#post311136You don't have to put the electrical tape on. At events the tape is normally used to show that the weapon has been checked and passed.nondisclosed_email@example.com (NadarathNachtwulfofEryndor)Mon, 26 Mar 2012 10:31:24 +0000 Re: Using colors on weaponshttps://beryndor.runboard.com/p311135,from=rss#post311135https://beryndor.runboard.com/p311135,from=rss#post311135You can use any colors except for Yellow (reserved for projectiles) but anything you add must be cloth as striking surfaces require cloth covers (you can get away with grip tape but that doesn't hold up well long term).nondisclosed_email@example.com (TheManTheyCallJayne)Mon, 26 Mar 2012 07:23:59 +0000 Re: Using colors on weaponshttps://beryndor.runboard.com/p311134,from=rss#post311134https://beryndor.runboard.com/p311134,from=rss#post311134Also, do I have to use blue electrical tape for example on the pommel or hilt of all blue weapons or is that an optional thing. If so would blue tape on the pommel of a blue sword "colored red" be acceptable? Also I have a "black" blue sword pictured in another thread, does it need to have blue tape on it to be considered legal?nondisclosed_email@example.com (Quinn Eagleeye)Mon, 26 Mar 2012 03:44:40 +0000 Using colors on weaponshttps://beryndor.runboard.com/p311133,from=rss#post311133https://beryndor.runboard.com/p311133,from=rss#post311133So now that I have gotten a couple blue swords made I was looking to add some customizations. I have some different colors in athletic tape and I was wondering would it be acceptable to make for example a green or a red colored blue sword or would that conflict with the rules. I don't want to make a blue sword (colored red) and have people complain or worse not be able to use it, but I would like some more variety than just black swords.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Quinn Eagleeye)Mon, 26 Mar 2012 03:03:40 +0000
