Crann, the KoSC, and the KoSC Embassy

--June 2011 edit--
new story is on page 3 http://beryndor.runboard.com/t30289,offset=20

I figured I should make something up that follows the more widely accepted history of the KoSC, hahaha.

It's for the most part the same up until Gordune reuniting with us. To my knowledge there were some back and forth events of Megaman's crown being fought over, and Gordune showed up to one of those events late, which is why in my story we reunite after a battle had started, even if the KoSC didn't really play a role in that battle.
-- end edit --

Crann had always wanted to make something of himself, he was rethinking this when a crew of bandits were raiding his family's caravan. What little he owned was now being taken from him as he and relatives were stuck tied to oaks. They were so close to Duindor they could hear a commotion from the nearest tavern. A relative cries for help hoping the bargoers will come to aid. The lead marauder tries to silence the shouter but finds a rock to the back of the head. A gang of guys are trying to take back what is ours.

Crann tries his hardest to break free of his binds and assist these heroes. He lets loose a knot in time to notice the crew is cutting everyone else free and he was next. Hopefully they aren't looking to receieve payment, for if they are, they'd get whatever the bandits would have taken any way, leaving us in the same position only feeling good about it.

All they wanted was to find their leader, a myth of a man whose appearance was less than common. Crann gladly lends a hand to them. The search through the continent had led them on the same path of the crusade. The dark crown was back in the hands of Maegamarth's forces and it had to be taken back. Weeks the fighting continued. Blood seeped out of the ground with every footstep. The enemy's number never seemed to dwindle. Needless to say, morale was low. Clouds hung over the horizon and misery even nearer. The good army seemed all but surrounded until reinforcements arrived to flank evil side. Amidst this group was a banner being waved, a shirt on a pole, held by red bandanna-ed man.

The Knights of Shining Cloth were reunited at last. Gordune had assembled forces to aid the crusade and found us. Stories of triumph flooded the lands. In every hamlet there were kids pretending to be KoSC and acting out fights. It escalated into a militia force joining the crusade all boasting a part of our organization. Impostors of the Cloth; taking our image and ruining our name.

Soon reality found its way back into the lives of the posers as their mission ended in defeat, none survived an Imperial attack. We knew what had to be done, to protect what we stood for, the KoSC would disband. Out of the spotlight: people would forget who we were and end the imitation... years passed...

Crann found himself lost, dehydrated, and chasing a pipe dream. He had been trying to reunite his brothers, he searched harder than before and was now crossing the desert. Mirages taunted his stupor. Mumbling to himself he trode on. Smoke was rising from behind a dune, a battle of some sort. A steady booming of cannon fire led Crann to the coast where a grand ship was wrecked and an even grander ship anchored. The fighting turned to partying as the day sun passed the sky.

Driven sick from the heat Crann wanders aboard passing drunken crew without even an acknowledgment. Finding the first bit of shade in days Crann finds a nice spot to pass out. ... The boat rocks, waves thunder against the hull. Crann awakens dazed and slightly deafened. Someone is yelling at him and there's a big crowd behind them. They continue yelling something. They raise a sword to Crann's ribcage.

"..Crann, is that you?" With ear clearing tones, the first friendly words spoken in a while come from Rin Retta, at one time himself a member of the Cloth. "He's a friend, captain." The chested sword finds its way back into sheath. Always adamant on killing stowaways on a shoot-first ask-later basis, the captain is displeased with the outcome.

Rin knows not where the other brethren could be, not like it matters now, Crann won't see docks until the captain wants to end this journey.

Life was easy-going though unproductive aboard the Fair Lady Senegal for Crann. He grew impatient as he longed for his old company. Impatient others grew too, though for different reasons. Mutiny it was, the lackadaisical crew had been planted with a seed of distaste for the current hierarchy. The heads of the ship were abolished, new order found, and a new direction the ship would sail.

A bad omen, dark were the days, and darker the water. A storm arose and a colossal beast emerged. A great tentacle struck the ship jostling the deck enough that Crann found himself clinging to shards of wood to stay afloat.

Sand.. seagulls.. the tide.. the tide? The ocean! The Ocean!! He must get away from the ocean! He isn't quite sure, why, but he must. He isn't sure of a lot of things, such as how he got there and who he is. There's a wooded area, that should be safe, he runs in there frantically. An arrow flies past his eyes. "!@#$! My sincerest apologies sir, you were running with the likeliness of a dear, and, well, I mistook you for one. Oh sir your head is bleeding!" The bewildered hunter bandages Crann's head as best he can and leads him to town.

Hansel is his name, he's the best person around at killing just about anything. On the way to town a blue/white wearing horsemen passes the two and memories are inspired. Crann explains the KoSC to Hansel and Hansel finds it to be a class act. The two decide to continue on for Gordune.

The crusade is still up and running and in need of enlisted men, a bulletin board has postings for such sorry souls. The wind blows the pages up and reveals that tacked under the call to arms is a different organization looking for help, it has an address listed and a logo of a shirt stamped over the name "Embassy."

Without the force of the old crew, Gordune is up to a new game. He takes on missions to be completed and employs a brigade to complete them, offering them food, a place to stay, and peace. Hans and Crann meet up at the new HQ and the new KoSC Embassy is in order.

The crusade is attacking an army and a nearby village is supplying the evil side with food, that's Embassy work, pillaging the unprepared and evil-aiding. There's a bar fight that's one-sided? - Embassy work. A bear is loose in town from the circus? Mostly Hansel but also Embassy work. Hithdor took notice of their victories and Stonetred saw it fit to outfit the group with the castle's personal armory. Soon the Embassy is out of work and everyone is relaxing, not Crann, he's been adventuring too long to quit now.

An alluring lady is found aromatic of pipe tobacco and a new quest is added to the list. Mit'Lenaux is a fine archer and a finer woman. Though she disappears as easily as she was found, and it is a while until she is seen again. Crann finds her at last and it is too late, she is signed up to fight for the Imperial Guard. He must protect her from these brutes.

As cruel to themselves as they are the enemy they fight; the IG is rough company. Black and purple are the eyes that stare with distaste at their similarly colored banner. Their leader retorts at the sight of Crann, "I thought we wiped your kind out long ago," reminiscing of the impostors. The KoSC flame is too true to be put out, the KoSC is too true to die when humans do. It will take a new form and continue on, the KoSC is invincible.

....

Re: Crann, the KoSC, and the KoSC Embassy

The food was Atkins approved which killed himself and people scared to death of spiders were taunted for it by spiders. There was a great deal of name-calling.

edit-
after a quick look at wikipedia Atkins died after a slip on some ice and a stay in the hospital with his brain bleeding, but he did have a heart attack the year before which probably effected his physical condition which could lead to him slipping on ice.

second edit-
As a gang of mercenaries I felt like a brute image to the group wouldn't be taking it too far, plus I can't stand that it is thought that the IG wiped out the KoSC - the first battle a unit is introduced to the story there was a chance that the unit could be outright put to an end and defeated? - bull ****.
so I had to make something up, but - the KoSC were always portrayed as a group of kids/teens who wanted to move up in life, so if you did destroy them storyline-wise that's still not good for your image.

third edit-
I'm not saying I didn't enjoy staying in IG camp, it was fun. Story telling involves a little bit of exaggeration so as long as that's accepted and known people should be able to get a kick out of a different lens. I don't know how obvious it is but the "story" pretty much just follows real-life events that I warp and mock, so I had to add Ragnarok and make it interesting.

Did this story get changed? I remember reading this the first time and I couldn't follow what was going on.

The only editing to the story that I've done since posting it was changing an "and" to an "an"
