So I figured a bump was deserved.  nondisclosed_email@example.com (Sindaric)Tue, 01 Mar 2011 12:50:40 +0000 Re: Wrap Shot Resourceshttps://beryndor.runboard.com/p308859,from=rss#post308859https://beryndor.runboard.com/p308859,from=rss#post308859Well Brawnik we have Monroe practices on Thursdays. It'd be great to see you out there, the more people we have out the more fun it will be. Our practice generally starts at about 3:30. I hope to see you out there man. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Sindaric)Mon, 05 Apr 2010 23:21:13 +0000 Re: Wrap Shot Resourceshttps://beryndor.runboard.com/p308857,from=rss#post308857https://beryndor.runboard.com/p308857,from=rss#post308857they prolly fail because they don't have a striking surface indicated and some part of the weapon fails a spot check... From just looking at it, it shoundn't fail from anything else except possibly flex if the checker is attempting to snap the sucker in half Anyway, useful for both people who want to use any cross variation or want to understand whats killing them that truth said, its also understandable that some more 'realistic' or 'vettedouche' players wont take all the shots because the shot angle in which its thrown isn't realistic historically. but useful all the same +1 for greatness in usefulnessnondisclosed_email@example.com (Fuaru)Mon, 05 Apr 2010 22:52:47 +0000 Re: Wrap Shot Resourceshttps://beryndor.runboard.com/p308849,from=rss#post308849https://beryndor.runboard.com/p308849,from=rss#post308849i thought it looked like a circle sword but wasnt sure... as far as the grip... i kinda get how to hold it... but it seems like it involves holding the weapon on a bit of an angle. I can try to make the Monroe practice, its about as far as toledo anyway. Possibly this saturday.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Brawnik)Mon, 05 Apr 2010 17:27:45 +0000 Re: Wrap Shot Resourceshttps://beryndor.runboard.com/p308823,from=rss#post308823https://beryndor.runboard.com/p308823,from=rss#post308823It can also be hard to tell what area of the weapon he's striking with because he's using a circle sword. You know those things the rag weapons check is failing for some ridiculous reason. Note: All of the above wraps can be thrown with a normal sword, I use nothing but.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Sindaric)Mon, 05 Apr 2010 00:21:43 +0000 Re: Wrap Shot Resourceshttps://beryndor.runboard.com/p308820,from=rss#post308820https://beryndor.runboard.com/p308820,from=rss#post308820When it comes to hand placement It can be done with pretty much any grip. I generally use a normal low grip (near the pommel)or high grip(a.k.a blade control.) Is that what you were asking? Or did I miss it?  As for the blade, when wrapping the back side of your blade should be doing the striking. The elbow and wrist movements allow your blade to turn so the back strikes. I'll be more than happy to show you how I throw them. Any chance you might make it to a Monroe area practice? Javin is also a great guy to ask. He really helped me tweak my wraps. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Sindaric)Sun, 04 Apr 2010 23:57:25 +0000 Re: Wrap Shot Resourceshttps://beryndor.runboard.com/p308815,from=rss#post308815https://beryndor.runboard.com/p308815,from=rss#post308815my biggest question on this shot is hand placement and blade placement when it lands. Its hard to see in the videos and also hard to see when fighting. I can't tell if its the inside of the blade that is making contact or the front side... to me it just looks like he's flatting... i know thats not whats happening... just cant see it. I'll prolly be asking at an upcoming practice how to throw this shot as I have never learned it. Thanks Sindaricnondisclosed_email@example.com (Brawnik)Sun, 04 Apr 2010 21:56:19 +0000 Re: Wrap Shot Resourceshttps://beryndor.runboard.com/p308803,from=rss#post308803https://beryndor.runboard.com/p308803,from=rss#post308803Also a note regarding the shield side back wrap. Since it is the most commonly thrown wrap it is also the wrap people have the most practice blocking. Just a thought.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Sindaric)Sun, 04 Apr 2010 12:37:30 +0000 Wrap Shot Resourceshttps://beryndor.runboard.com/p308802,from=rss#post308802https://beryndor.runboard.com/p308802,from=rss#post308802 Getting tired of throwing your same bread and butter shots? Tired of high crossing day in and day out? Maybe it's time to mix a few new shots into your bag of tricks? If you've found yourself asking these questions then it's time make a call. Dial 1-800-did he just hit my back. But seriously though wraps are a wonderful way to widen your shot selection.  Wrap shots are a great way to get through your opponents defenses. The beauty of wrap shots is their ability to by pass most normal blocks. Rather than striking head on, like a lot of people expect, they "wrap" around your opponents shield edge or sword block.  It has been said (especially on the dag boards) that it is impossible to generate enough power with wraps to make good contact. I think this stems from a lack of body mechanics being used. Poor body mechanics can cause wrap shots to land weakly and fail.       Note:There are more wraps out there besides the basic shield side back wrap. Just because it's the most commonly used doesn't mean it's the most effective. I've found the following videos to be a great resource for wrap shots. One of the things I like most about these videos is that they go into the body mechanics behind the shots.
