Re: Legacy July 16 Day Event 2011

An overall preface to the event, officially known as The Chamber of the Dark Lord...

Into Belegar, Into the Castle of Kings

quote:

Four years ago, the mysterious force known as Maegamarth was nothing more than a denied rumor, in even the largest cities of Men. It took much bloodshed over the years for some folk to take notice. It took the breaching of Eredhel, and the abduction of its slaughtered King. It took the burning of Bubar, and the unspoken assassinations of Hithdor’s greatest. With his Hand and Crown, there is no denying this rumor any longer, and if any dare to try, they ought look out the window at the roaming dead in the fields.

Some hide cowardly in their homes, making sure to squelch their torches early, lest they wish to attract the dead. Some think, “If only Hithdor had taken this seriously sooner,” or worse yet, “This is the end. All life on our Continent will perish.” However, other yet did not give in to this darkness that umbrellas the Continent. They felt something in their blood that compelled them to resist. To fight. And as the elves have said for millennia, Men do one thing well, and that is to fight, and destroy. To the benefit of Man, there were many outlets for this newfound desire to suppress Maegamarth’s forces. Hithdor - despite its recent administrative problems - is always a military force to be reckoned with, and their recruiters have found their jobs relatively easy these past few years. Others yet heard of a growing movement, the Crusade of Eryndor; a crusade that fights with as much heart as Hithdor does with steel. In the midst of a common enemy for all the Light, an Alliance was formed, and it has grown ever since its inception. Both sides fell into rolls that suited them best; the Crusade was to spread the word of the impending darkness, while the most loyal of Hithdorian regiments would focus on Belegar.

News from the front lines in Belegaria wasn’t always good news, but a time has finally come where victory is in site. For it can now be said that Hithdor is taking this matter seriously, or at least certain factions of it are, and the Crusade of Eryndor stands tall and spreads an uplifting word that “No, this is not the end. Life of the Continent will flourish again!”

Through the storm clouds and the black wastes, the Castle of Kings is finally within range of the Alliance. Without doubt, this is due to the surprise assault that came from the elvish ships at sea. Specifically, from the Edheliu armada that arrived from the raging storms of the Alta Ocean. Three weeks prior to this unprecedented arrival, a carrier pigeon delivered a curious little note to key members of the Crusade. It read as follows:

"Edheliu sails the Alta. To lay siege to southern Belegar, a score of days from this dusk. Fight hard Crusaders. For home, for the Lifetree. I will see you soon brothers.

~ D"

And so it came to pass, that the ancient elves of Edheliu laid wastes to the dark forces of southern Belegar, paving the way for the Alliance’s new commands: To storm the castle on the morrow...

Re: Legacy July 16 Day Event 2011

The event was a success! We had a lot of fun, and filled the sunny day with good honor fightin', and lots of laughs.

We unveiled Fairion's new battle scenario, "Fat Princess"...

We had several people attend that it was their first event...

We had FUN... annnnnd...

We moved forward the storyline by finally ending the mystery of what happened to the body of King Riadarin.

For those of you who didn't hear, the storyline is as follows...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Elves of Edheliu have been biding their time to finish Maegamarth when the time came for an assault. When Maegamarth reclaimed his crown, he had the dark power to finally turn the body of king Riadarin into his Undead commander... and he was turned to the dark side, his Elvish family across the ocean felt his soul disappear. They knew they had waited long enough... NOW was the time to kill Maegamarth.
They set sail over a hundred massive ships, infusing the water with Light Energy as they went. They also sent word to the allies, the Eryndor crusaders. They would have a timed strike, to finish the atrocities in Belegar once and for all. The Elves came ashore, and with the crusade they stormed Belegar, all the way to it's rotten core. There they found a tall terrible being, a dark lord maybe.
With their champions of Light Energy, they slayed the dark lord only to find that it was merely the Undead Riadarin, and Maegamarth was no where to be found.
...
Where to next? The story is opening up so you all can focus on growing your characters in your own way. In the meantime, know that the true Dark Lord Maegamarth only needs his Eyes to be complete, and in the meantime you all have no idea where he is... hidden somewhere in the massive Undead hell called The Continent.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I just wanted to thank everyone for coming out for this event. Not only did many of you make a big drive, but some of you made a big extra effort.

Especially, Eindridi (who played Undead King Riadarin)

Fenris (who made the new legendary weapon)

Magnus and Haldor (who wore awesome evil-doer garb and fought with Riadarin)

and thanks to anyone who helped lend Legacy a hand to get the event rollin' smooth under the hot hot sun.

Keep dorking it up!

~Mithris~
