Acrylic paint should do just fine on your armor. Just be aware that acrylic is prone to cracking. I wouldn't apply oil-based paint to your armor.

acrylic paint is the best paint to use on armor. To be honest, you could drop a ton on a small pot of "leather paint", but all it is is acrylic paint with a fancy name.

Usually if you throw some leather finish and sealer over acrylic, it'll last a longer while before cracking. Just throw some more acrylic on it and seal it again, no biggie.

Re: Ring Lord scales: I hope anyone using these for dag has a grinder and a lot of patience or a metal file and a serious jonesing for tendonitis as they end in points and will need to be modified to ensure passing everywhere (Of course, this might not be necessary for just using locally).

ya been looking at the ring lord stuff and like what i see so far. I saw one of the kits to make a vest of scale mail that i might want to pick up. If i get that i prob will have enough scales left to make the curtain of mail on my new armor

That looks like SCA armor.

In Dag, hand protection gets you nothing (other than looking cool, possibly), since you can just punch-block shots. And believe me - Muhdurin is right. From my account, I've spent too much money on store-bought leather armor. Making it yourself is much more affordable, satisfying, and personal, rather than buying the stuff from a faceless online company.

How big are these scraps?
I must be misunderstanding.

Scrap bags of leather from hobby lobby are enough to make wipstitch style armor pieces if layered together correctly. Several bags would be needed to do larger projects and will also depend on your size.

Pricing is affordable, but I forget how much per bag. No more than 20 at the most.
