oh yeah, bounties sound like a heck of an idea, maybe just capturing some, and keeping them, and at the end of it all it has some story element. Cuz last year all i know is that I wanted to get captured, was so tired of hanging out with good, really wanted some lashings emoticon

I think that whatever we use for ears (and while I would have said poker chips are a good idea) it should be kept secret amongst the even organizers so that no one decides to cheat a few in that they bring from home. Let's face it, there are people out there that will do it. So, poker chips might not be a good idea anymore.

Also, yeah I can see being able to trade ears in for something, have them be "quest" as well. Like, each person has to decide whether they want to help themselves (sell them, turn them in for quest) or help the team (turn them in to the herald).

Perhaps there should be some kind of reward for the team that gets the most ears at the end. Maybe, a party oriented reward?

For tags - I liked the tags at Winds of Change - a set grouping of beads. It went well with everyone's garb, and it couldn't be duplicated because nobody knew what beads were to be used.

Perhaps something similar could be done for the ears?

Nichtmar's terriotry idea seems easy enough to do and it could help lead to less wandering aimlessly and more of a direction of attack amongst the major grps...

I'm going to summarize a few things, then add a few arbitrary numbers for things. Let me know how you guys feel about it.

Ears- Everyone starts with two, and when you die, you give one to your killer (or whoever searches your corpse first).

Ressurecting- After you die, your 'spirit' starts walking back to your HQ rez after 30 seconds. If your HQ rez is present, you resurrect after another 60 seconds. If you don't have any 'rez relics', it takes 90 seconds. If you have two 'rez relics' you rez in 30, and if you have all three, you touch and go rez.

Coin- Everyone starts with two Coin. Coin can be made in many ways. I imagine there's a way to exchange ears for coin (through Bortis or a bounty keeper?). Coin can also be made by searching people's corpses (I imagine you can take all the coin they're carrying). Last year we had people burrying Coin, so how about you can only have Coin on your body, or stashed at your HQ. Coin can be saved at your gang HQ, but obviously it can be taken if someone slaughters your camp and searches it.

Stealable items: Anything marked with red ribbon can be taken from a corpse, but more importantly can be stolen, whether the person is in town or the trails. I imagine some very basic trinkets (a goblet that sells to Bortas for 2 Coin) to mysterious gems that seem to be priceless and have unknown powers.

Elements of the town:

Hospital- If you have no more ears, you cannot wield a weapon (do you leave them in camp?) until you go to the Hospital, and lay down for 90 seconds. Then you get two ears and you're off.

Blacksmith- For 10 Coin, you can make a shield unbreakable. For 20 Coin, you can make a blue weapon deal red damage. For 5 Coin, you can have your armor repaired (maybe not allow it to be repaired when you rez? Keeps the fighting more fair in the trails).

Ankor's Kitchen- A place to interact with Ankor and other townspeople, but also a place to get his famous ________, that can be carried with you, and instantly heals a limb when eaten. Maybe 5 Coin for that?

Bortas' Shop- This is where you find all sorts of trinkets, items, and other goods... most of which that will probably come to him during gameplay.

Smoke Den- Some larger tent or pavillion could serve as a tavern, a place to buy drinks (in reality, too?), and have a hookah rolling. Can we recruit Ichabod or someone for this?

Some sort of spiritual building- Depending on the storyline, either a place where they study the Creator, Portals, or the Orc God Grumish. Whatever the religion or study, it would be a great place to hear more of the key plot, and could be an interesting place for some crazy RP stuff to go down. Plus, maybe there could be a "Deckard Cain" type character there that can explain strange goods.

Characters:

I think each gang faction should have a leader that's in cahoots with the event planners... so if we need them to cooperate and organize their gang, they can do it in character.

Bortas: Infamous travelling merchant.

Elden Yin: Too cool of a character to pass up this time around.

Town Mayor: Friendly town representative providing answers and positive ideas to characters.

Town Guards: I imagine we only need three to cover each entrance. They take your weapons and store them in a safehouse until you're about to leave the town.

Medic: The healer working at the Hospital.

MAJOR QUESTIONS:

1. What are the other two small combat groups? I like the idea of Dark Energy Users, seeking to open the Portals (for Maegamarth?). I would like to see a group that's all about the Greater Good, but maybe something different this time... like righteous Free Elves who left Eredhel ages ago, and are seeking an understanding of the Portal over all else... like petty gang warfare.

2. What town is this?! I had the whacky idea that its actually a makeshift town that has come together quickly just so they can further understand Portals and understand the people of this strange world, The Continent. What do the townspeople have in common? They're all Portaljumpers, meaning they're all from different worlds/dimensions.

3. What other motivations do the gangs have to interact rather than just run around the trails and play "collect ears!"

Wow, that's a lot to take in. Let's keep ideas rolling.

Also, my only problem with the story idea of gangs right now is that is there really an opportunity for having "good"? Right now it seems like a lot of law-breaking unruliness is the main focus, but what about people who want to play characters who are 100% good and aren't NPCs? Where's the option amongst the gangs for that?

What if it doesn't take place on the Continent, but instead some sort of alternate world? Portals suddenly opened up in the LBTL areas and pulled in characters from LBTL-storyline and Eryndor storyline both. The characters were then transported to this other land, an isolated continent in a completely different section of the world. The portals opened up widely in The Continent and LBTL-land, pulling in the most amount of fighters/NPCs/evils from those areas. The exact cause of the appearance of the portals is unknown, but the portals pulled some people against their will into this area and others went willingly (probably the more "evil" characters).

Finding themselves suddenly away from home, in a new area, a makeshift town sprung up and people forged alliances. Some people had never met, others had been together on the Continent for years. The portals showed a preference for pulling some NPCs who had participated in a "Crossroads" into this new land before. No one's entirely certain exactly where the portals dropped them--it's undetermined whether or not this is a part of the Continent, LBTL, or any other place.

The portals also pulled persons from distant lands, histories, etc. into the crossroads camp area--which would allow alternate characters from places like Ankh-Morpork (the universe of the Aratari Guard) to fall into place as well.


And Mithris, I have confirmation that members of Pahmoten (Sirilay's group) and Drentha will be in attendance--possibly more from Angaron. Magnus of Taurendor seems to be interested as well.

Ichabod lives in my basement... so I'll talk to him about the hookah tent thing.

Personally I'm rolling well with the stuff you're thinking about Mithris so let's focus mainly on that.

And as for the 100% Good thing the fun part of this establishment of rival gangs... is that the good/evil (other than the pool guys who are def evil) is all in the perspective. SO, if you're part of gang red... you're a good guy and the other gang(s) are the evil. So through roleplay you justify your actions as good and evil. Kinda like our government. emoticon
